Dennis Knizley started his private law practice the day he received his law license in 1979 and has continuously maintained the practice for over thirty-five years . As a young lawyer he handled cases in many areas of the law, gravitating to criminal as a specialty as his practice developed . In 1999 his colleagues elected him President of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the organization recognized by the Alabama State Bar as representing the criminal defense lawyers of Alabama. He received the Roderick Beddow Award in 2000, the highest achievement honor bestowed on a criminal defense lawyer in Alabama.
In the courtroom Mr. Knizley has handled thousands of cases and tried hundreds of jury trials. Cases have ranged from shoplifting to drug conspiracies to white collar offenses to capital murder, and still do today.
